19.00-20.00:
conversation pieces: undercurrent
undercurrent activates a performative condition of simultaneous participatory interactions around the central axes* of the coming times. In a common space, at three different tables, group discussions will unfold in parallel on the occasion of an opening reflection shared by each moderator-hostess. Attendees can choose which table they initially want to participate in, and at any time they wish they can move to another table. A participatory cycle of polyphonic imprinting that expects to highlight the dynamics of horizontal coexistence and the – from the bottom up relational – production of knowledge by peer-to-peer learning. conversation pieces is the starting point of the symposium and serves as a first meeting of the ephemeral community but also as a warm up for what follows.
- *decolonial thinking in the field of dance
- feminist models of governance
- intersectional feminist models of (co-)labour
bio
undercurrent is an independent curatorial platform for discursive, performative, and educational practices in and beyond the field of dance, choreography, and performance. It develops and implements diverse cultural projects through unruly modes, divergent formats and mediums. It envisions to expand the critical discourse within the local context of what is performing arts today, as well as to reinforce various plexes of collaboration and communication with the international context. undercurrent was initiated in Athens (GR) in 2022 by Christina Karagianni, Elena Novakovits and Nassia Fourtouni.

performative dinner: Dora Zoumpa & Anna Housiada
Recipes For Uncertain Outcomes
How can a recipe and the procedure to prepare a dish engage in conversation with problems we face in the field of art?
What kind of culture do we produce and consume?
What are the ingredients of a good collaboration?
How does one make the “right” decisions that will define the outcome?
Recipes for Uncertain Outcomes is a game of ingredients and recipes; a score of exploration, collaboration and self-observation. Participants are invited to creatively engage in a process with imprecise dosages and unsure results to highlight issues of care, involvement and responsibility towards the outcome they wish to offer, whether it be called a performative event or a collective dish.

bio
Dora Zoumpa studied contemporary dance, art history and theory, exhibition curation, and applied ecopsychology (ecotuning). Her creative interests revolve around moving bodies, expanded choreographic approaches, participatory and interdisciplinary projects, and exploring the artistic and collaborative aspects of contact, exchange, and learning that emerge through ‘human-nature’ interaction. Her practice focuses on participatory actions that invite communities and foster dialogue around the commons, ecology, symbiosis, and the ecosystems we inhabit. Dora is engaged with food, food politics, and issues of food democracy. She lives and works in urban and ‘natural’ environments and everything in between, tending her garden, collecting fruits, herbs and traditional seeds and baking bread with her own sourdough starter.
Anna Housiada is a visual artist, based in Athens. Her work focuses on the anthropology of food and craft as practices of care and consists of participatory events and installations that aim to activate a historical, critical and political dialogue. She likes to look at communities as ecosystems and explore the relationship dynamics within them. Using methodological tools based on interdependence and collective production of knowledge, she works in the intermediate space between art, research and pedagogy. She is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Art (2017) and the Advanced Masters of Research in Art and Design in Social-Political Context at Sint-Lucas University of Antwerp (2020). She was awarded by ARTWORKS (2022) and selected by the Delfina Foundation of London as an SNF Fellow (2024). This year, she is a member of the artists’ team for the community project “Melisma” of the Greek National Opera in North Evia.
